Wayzata Community Sailing Center today announced plans to host a general public open house 4 p.m. Friday, June 5. The open house is intended to provide the greater community with an opportunity to experience firsthand the facilities and activities of this community center. On hand will be a number of certified instructors demonstrating some of the 54 sailboats used by the facility for youth and adult sailing lessons, summer camps and race programs. The Wayzata Community Sailing Center provides access to Lake Minnetonka for all members of the community via its fleet of dinghy boats: Pram’s, Opti’s, 420s, lasers and through its keelboat programs in J22s.
In addition to the sailboat demonstration, the open house will include: • Overview to all the sailing programs offered for youth (5 to 18 years) and adult sailing lessons • Free sailboat rides • Free BBQ • Free face painting • A number of vendors selling new equipment and boats • A bring and buy sale of gently used equipment, with proceeds assisting the operational budget of the Sailing Center
Tony Peet, vice president of the center, said “Many people have asked about our fleet of sail boats and the improvement work taking place at the property. We have a wonderful asset here for our community and this is a great chance for everyone to come see this resource thats available to everyone.”

The Annual Ferndale North Rummage Sale is scheduled for Thursday 9-5 and Friday May 9-8 15th, 2009. According to Dolores Urban, a resident of the neighborhood, the sale will included items such as “bikes, books, baby stuff, designer clothers, electronics, antiques and much, much more.
The 29th Annual Wells Fargo Half Marathon from Wayzata to Excelsior occurred Sunday May 3rd under perfect skies and 50 degrees. Thousands of people flooded the streets of Wayzata for this annual event. The race winners are as follows:

Blue Water Theatre Company is pleased to be presenting the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “Carousel” on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 in the auditorium at Wayzata Central Middle School.
The cast of “Carousel” is made up of over forty young people in grades six through twelve throughout the western suburban area, representing the Wayzata, Hopkins and Osseo/Maple Grove school districts, as well as Providence Academy, St Bart’s, and the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists.
The mission of Blue Water Theatre Company, which was founded in August of 2007, is to build and sustain a theatre commuity that will provide young actors with opportunities to perform, learn, and experience theatre that is important, meaningful, and life-changing.
Tickets are $10, and are available at the door one hour before each performance.
Advance tickets are also available at the Bookcase, 607 East Lake Street in Wayzata.
Wayzata Central Middle School is located at 305 Vicksburg Lane in Plymouth.
The Minnetonka Symphony Orchestra will perform a Spring Concert at Wayzata Community Church on Sunday, May 3rd at 7:30 pm. The program will feature Davidson’s: The Young Lutheran’s Guide to the Orchestra, and Bruckner’s: Symphony No. 4 – “Romantic”. Admission is free, with an offering will be collected.
