
Peter Hitch, the Executive Director of the Wayzata Conservancy, has infused his 40-year career in corporate law, intermodal transportation, sports technology, and local nonprofits with passion and dedication. He believes in the motto “there’s plenty of time between midnight and 6:00 am,” and finds his greatest rewards in volunteer work.

Peter has coached youth sports alongside his wife, Wendy, and their two athletic daughters. He was instrumental in launching the Minnesota Children’s Museum, helping it evolve into a respected educational institution. Additionally, he served on the YMCA Camp Warren Board, expanding its mission to include girls. As a Blake School Trustee, he contributed to shaping the school’s Vision and fundraising efforts.
A member of the Greater Wayzata Chamber of Commerce for 15 years, Peter served as Board Chair in 2014 and 2015 and helped develop the Chamber’s first Vision Statement and Five-Year Strategic Plan. He has also been vital to the success of Wayzata’s annual family festival, James J. Hill Days.
