The Wayzata community lost a dear friend. Irene Stemmer passed away Friday at the age of 93. Irene was the original charter member of the Wayzata Heritage Preservation Board. She saved the Trapper’s Cabin (see picture below from her book The Trapper’s Cabin: A Journey To Preservation) and persuaded Presbyterian Homes to pay for its rehab and relocation from Bushaway to Shaver Park, where it is now. She led historical tours of Wayzata for years, both walking and via trolley. Wayzata is such a better community because of Irene’s contributions.
