City plans to replace ceiling tile at the Muni due to loudness

The city council talks about making adjustments the Wayzata Bar and Grill.

Wayzata Bar and Grill, also known as the Muni, is used as an icon for the community of Wayzata. It is owned and operated by the City of Wayzata. Every penny of profit made goes directly to helping maintain the city.

The new location opened on April 28th 2011. Although they have only been in their new location a few months the city is already talking about an issue they have found. Andrew Mullin, council member said, “The core issue is noise, noise, noise!”

The issue creating the noise is the ceiling tiles. The tiles being used are not the right type of tile to restrain sound. “In the bar area the tiles should be perforated with sound backing, but if you look right now it’s just a solid tile.” said council member Tom Tanner. A perforated tile is a tile with holes in it, to help absorb the sound.

The council decided this was a valid issue to bring up due to the number of comments regarding the muni’s excessively noisy atmosphere. The council believes that if nothing is done about these concerns the muni could potentially lose customers.

The new ceiling tiles will take about 2-3 weeks to be put in.
