The sale brings in volunteers and shoppers from all over the twin cities. With the wide variety of items ranging from furniture to sporting goods, and everything in between, the sale is likely to have something for everyone not only can you find something for yourself, but the proceeds from the sale are donated to charity. organizing volunteer Christina Ruiz described the process, “It’s something productive to do during the summer and my whole family gets involved, plus I meet some really great people while helping out. It’s a lot of hard work, but it’s all worth it when you think about the people you’re going to help.”
The profits from the rummage sale are donated to non-profit organizations both locally and worldwide. Wayzata Community Church chooses the organizations through their Monetary Grant Process.
Non-profit organizations seeking help for funding fill out an application. Staff from the monetary grant process look through the applications and decide which organizations they are going to help fund.
Dena Naylor, Director of Rummage Sale Ministries for the past 15 years spoke about the impact the sale has had, “ It’s not just about the stuff, it’s about the service, and the community the rummage sale brings together.”
