Council approves wetland buffer sizes and land disturbance code

At the Wednesday, August 3rd 2011, Wayzata City Council meeting, members passed ordinances on wetland buffer sizes, and land disturbances.

Mike Kelly, city engineer, presented an ordinance about wetlands. The main item discussed was the buffer zone sizes around the wetlands. After a few questions the issue addressed was passed. Kelly also presented an ordinance about land disturbance. This ordinance amended chapter 409 of the city code. The chapter declares, the total area of disturbance is less than 5,000 square feet.

The topic of the IOCP general plan PUD 110 Grand Avenue was not discussed and was tabled until a later date. There were no municipal licenses to approve, so the council swiftly moved on.

Towards the end of the meeting, Council Member Jack Amdal brought up the topic of expanding city by ways. as well as trail improvements.

The next meeting for the council will be held on Tuesday, August 16th 2011, at the City Hall Community Room. Stay tuned to, your wetland buffer zone leader.
