Wayzata Women’s Chorus update

The Wayzata Women’s Chorus has been competing at the 2011 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales.  The following is a quick excerpt of an email from Bob Ambrose to Mayor Ken Willcox:

Dear Family & Friends,

Elaine and I arrived safely in the lovely perched village of Eze last evening, still so excited about the Llangollen experience, but very tired! This photo shows the view of Eze village from our place. The Med is to the left of the photo and about 1,500 feet down!

The Wayzata Women’s Chorus performed perfectly during their appearances in competition on the main stage at the 4,000 seat Royal International Pavilion at the 2011 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales. However, we discovered that a choir must be “more than perfect” to win the Pavarotti Trophy as Choir of the World. That honor went to the official national choir of the Philippines. Nonetheless, the Wayzata Women’s Chorus and their director, Carole Birch, left knowing that they had given the best performances of their lives and that they are one of the “Top Five Female Choirs in the World” this year.

The Chorus and the spouses privileged to accompany them will remember this “magic carpet ride” forever!

Ken, the Chorus loved the Wayzata pins and we spread them far and wide. Many members gave up their own pins as gifts to new friends in other choirs. I hope we can replenish our stock when we return home!

Lenore, Joan and Carole, thanks for all that you have done to make this journey possible!

Peace and Love,

Bob

Congratulations and safe travel to the Wayzata Women’s Chorus.  See you back in town soon!
