69, of St. Paul, died peacefully surrounded by his immediate family on Friday, June 3rd, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Kenneth Rich.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Repinski; his son, Eric (Denise) Rich; his granddaughters, Elizabeth and Carolyn Rich; his wife’s son & daughter, Christine and Christopher Repinski; and his brother, Robert (Pat) Rich of San Diego, California.
Born on January 18, 1942 in Jamestown, North Dakota, Dave earned a B.A. in Music from the University of Colorado in 1965, an M.A. in Music from the University of Michigan in 1967 and completed doctoral work at the University of Colorado. Dave was an Assistant Professor of Music and Choral Activities at Valley State College, University of Nebraska, Iowa State University, and Milton College.
He changed careers and worked as a certified software engineer for Unisys, Cenex, and Delta Dental. He retired from Donaldson Company in 2006 where he had worked as a Product manager.
He continued to serve his love for music as Choral Director for Epworth UMC and Good Shepherd UMC. Dave sang in the choir of the Bach Society of Minnesota for ten years. He briefly performed with the Dixieland Band comprised of members of the Prospect Park UMC. For the past fifteen years, Dave has been the much loved Choir Director at Prospect Park.
A Memorial Service will be on Friday, June 10th, 7:00 p.m., at Prospect Park United Methodist Church in Minneapolis. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. until the service.
