Wayzata had 4 shots, with 2 shots on goal compared to Eden Prairie’s 10 shots and 6 shots on goal. The Trojans were lead by Kylie Schwarz, Taylor Wodnick, Rebecca Dryer, and Katie Schulz who each contributed shots. Goal keeper Megan Pyrz allowed 3 goals, and had 3 saves.
Head Coach Tony Peszneker commented after the game, “They scored 42 seconds into the game and it was hard to recover from that. You never want to give up a goal that early in a game. We had two players run into each other, falling down and giving them a chance for a break.”
Coach Peszneker continued, “I thought we settled down after 4 or 5 minutes, we got back into the game. We were doing a pretty good job. I thought we gave up way too many corner kicks, but we fought back. Overall, I’m still quite please to get back to the finals after winning it last year–against a very good and deserving team in Eden Prairie. You have to give them a lot of credit. They came to play.”
Wayzata had three players selected by the MSHSL league to the All Tournament Team:
- Keeper Megan Pyrz
- Midfielder Lauren Urke
- Midfielder Kiana Nickel
