The Wayzata boys baseball team had a steep hill to climb on Friday, May 29. The Trojans needed to first beat Bloomington Jefferson in the loser’s bracket final of section 6AAA and then defeat top seeded Hopkins twice in order to advance to this year’s state tournament.
The Trojans got past the first hurdle with a 7-5 victory over Bloomington Jefferson, but were unable to get past conference rival Hopkins.
The Royals jumped on the Trojans early and never let its foot off the gas pedal as Hopkins cruised to a 19-1 victory to put an end to Wayzata’s 2009 season.
The Trojans finish the 2009 campaign with a record of 15-11.
