As we reported on Saturday, Wayzata graduate James Laurinaitis was selected in the second round of the NFL draft by the St. Louis Rams with the 35th overall pick.
Here is what some journalists across the country are saying about the pick:
“The Rams’ second-round choice, Ohio State linebacker James Laurinaitis, could find his way into the lineup as a rookie…” – ESPN.com reporter Mike Sando
“Adding middle linebacker James Laurinaitis adds heft to a defense clearly lacking it last season. He should emerge as a more forceful alternative to Chris Draft, thus making it easier to keep Will Witherspoon outside. He is better in coverage than Rey Maualuga, so he was a better choice than the former USC star. He is a solid character guy, he fills a glaring need — really, what’s not to like about this guy?” – St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Jeff Gordon
“Laurinaitis…is a good fit for a Rams front seven that had to get stronger.” – Sports Network NFL Editor Tony Moss
