Lucky number seven was the goal for the Wayzata softball team on Thursay, as in seven straight victories. The Trojans got their wish with a 3-1 victory over Robbinsdale Armstrong to improve to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in Classic Lake Conference play. The victory avenged a 3-2 loss to the Falcons back on April 13.
Senior Sarah Laudner went 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI’s to lead the way offensively. Senior pitcher Anna Twinem scattered six hits and struck out seven to earn her seventh victory of the season.
The current Classic Lake Conference standings have Minnetonka in first place with a perfect 5-0 record. The Trojans are currently two games behind the Skippers at 3-2. Edina is 2-2, followed by Hopkins at 1-3, and Armstrong at 1-5.
The Trojans have an important match-up with Minnetonka on Monday at 4:15 p.m. A win would move the Trojans to within one game of first place, while a loss would make winning the conference an almost impossible task. The Skippers handed the Trojans a 2-0 loss back on April 15.
