WAYZATA ATHLETICS 2009: Softball Team Still Looking for First Victory

The Wayzata softball team dropped to 0-2 on the young season on Wednesday afternoon when they fell 2-0 to Classic Lake Conference rival Minnetonka. Two days earlier, the team opened its season with a 3-2 loss to Armstrong. The team will look to post its first victory of the season on Friday against Rogers.

The girl’s golf team picked up a dual match victory over Hopkins on Wednesday afternoon, 177-184, at Wayzata Country Club. Wayzata’s Sarah Burnham shot a five over par 41 to earn medalist honors.

The Wayzata baseball team dropped to 1-2 on the season on Wednesday with a disappointing 14-3 loss to Hopkins. The team will look to right the ship on Friday against Edina.

The boy’s tennis team lost a heartbreaking 4-3 match to Hopkins on Tuesday afternoon to drop to 2-2 on the season. It’s the second 4-3 loss for the Trojans this season as they also lost by the same score to Breck earlier in the season. The team will play in the Eden Prairie Invitational on Saturday morning.

Lacrosse teams in action tonight

Both the boy’s and girl’s lacrosse teams will host Minnetonka tonight in Classic Lake Conference matches. The girl’s match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., with the boy’s match following at 7:30 p.m.

The girl’s lacrosse team is off to a 3-0 start after convincing victories over Anoka (14-0), Armstrong (11-6), and Bloomington Kennedy (11-6).

The boy’s team is 1-0 on the season after a previous 13-4 victory over Armstrong.
