Wayzata Graduate Pitching for Saint Benedict

2008 Wayzata graduate Emma Alwin is a freshman pitcher on the College of St. Benedict women’s softball team. Alwin has appeared in 11 games and has started a team-high eight games. She is 4-5 on the season with a 3.13 earned run average. She has thrown seven complete games and has struct out 13 batters on the season.

Alwin’s best performance of the year came against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) rival St. Thomas on Wednesday, April 8. Alwin and Blazers ended the Tommies 63-game conference winning streak that day with a 6-3 victory.

Alwin went the distance on the mound by thowing seven innings, allowing six hits, and only one earned run.

The Blazers are currently in seventh place out of 12 teams in the MIAC with a conference record of 3-5 and an overall record of 7-13.

Gustavus Adolphus College currently sits atop the MIAC standings at 10-0 in conference play and 21-3 overall.

Wayzata graduate Jessie Gabbert is a senior utility infielder for the Gusties. Gabbert has appeared in 13 games and has four hits in 12 at bats this season for a .333 batting average.
