The Wayzata Bantam A Hockey Team won their Regional Hockey Tournament over the weekend to advance to the Bantam A Hockey State Tournament, March 19 – 22, in Thief River Falls, MN. Wayzata won all four regional games, racking up a total of 29 goals and only giving up 2 goals.
The Wayzata Bantam A team is coached by Marc Sorenson and his assistant coaches, Jim Neary, Mark Nenovich and Judd Stevens.
Team members include goalies Aaron Dingmann and Isaac Melin, and players Grant Besse, Miles Death, Eric Fong, Blake Hallenberg, Matt Halverson, Mitch Heflin, Mario Lucia, Sam Majka, Kevin Miller, Kyle Olson, Grant Opperman, Ryan Poppitz, Teddy Ransom, Anthony Tabery & Kage Tiller.
ALSO – The Wayzata Bantam B1-1 Blue team is also advancing to the Bantam B State Tournament, March 19 – 22, in St. Cloud, MN. The team is coached by Todd Russ, David Richardson and Terry Steinbach. Wayzata Blue beat the Wayzata B1-2 Gold team 3 – 1 to advance to the State Tournament (always a tough but good game!).
