Wayzata graduate Kurt Davis scored his sixth goal of the season on Saturday night to help lead his Minnesota State, Mankato Mavericks to their first ever series sweep of the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers in WCHA action.
Davis scored on the power play at the 11:24 mark of the first period to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead. The Mavericks led 2-1 late in the game when they added an empty net goal to make the final score 3-1.
The Mavericks are now 13-13-3 overall on the season and 9-11-2 in WCHA play.
