WAYZATA PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Nine WPS teachers will deliver presentations at state social studies conference

Social studies teachers across Minnesota submitted presentations to be chosen for the Minnesota Council for the Social Studies’ spring conference March 5-6 in Prior Lake, and nine of the 54 presenters were chosen from Wayzata Public Schools.

WHS is well represented at the conference and the school’s social studies department is recognized as one of the leaders in the state in regards to social studies education. This year, presenting at the conference from WHS are:

Peter Schmit – Microeconomics in a Macroeconomic World
Crystal Gildea – The Economics of Wealth Distribution: A Classroom Simulation
Bootsie Anderson – Asia: A Teacher’s Dream Trip
Mark McIlmoyle – Why Canada Matters!
Amy Swenson – Using Thinking Maps in the Social Studies Classroom; Facilitating and Incorporating Classroom Discussions; Formative Assessment in the Social Studies Classroom

In addition to the WHS teacher presentations, Matt Scheidler and Dave Lutz, from East Middle School, will be presenting a session on Geo-technologies.
