The St. Paul Symphony Orchestra will be performing Schubert’s 5th Symphony at the Wayzata Community Church on December 19th, 2008 at 8:00 pm.
From the SPCSO website, “Anton Webern is known as a twentieth century musical innovator. He was also a fine orchestrator and arranger, and he used his considerable talent in this arena to rework J.S. Bach’s masterpiece The Musical Offering for the orchestra. Franz Schubert’s gift for melody is evident in his more than six hundred German songs. This affinity for great tunes wasn’t limited to his vocal music. Hear the beautiful and haunting melodies Schubert created for his incomparable Fifth Symphony.”
The Orchestra has also received rave reviews from the Star Tribune, in an article entitled Review: Just back from tour, SPCO shines.
Tickets range from $10-$25, with childrens tickets available for $5. 651-291-1144 or http://www.thespco.org/.
