Just got an email from Becky Malone at the City of Wayzata with a notice for a closed Wayzata City Council Meeting to be held on Thursday morning at 7:00 am.
Here is the formal notice:
WAYZATA CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL WORKSHOP MEETING NOTICE 7:00 AM
Wayzata City Hall Community Room, 600 Rice Street
Thursday, February 11, 2010
WORKSHOP REGARDING WAYZATA’S NEW MUNI CONSTRUCTION PROJECT – 7:30 AM
The City Council and directly involved City Staff will conduct a closed meeting pursuant to Minn. Stat. 13D.05 subd. 3(b) to meet with its City Attorney to review, and candidly and openly discuss absolutely confidential, privileged matters regarding litigation threatened against the City by the Concerned Citizens for the Preservation of the Widsten Circle Neighborhood consisting of defense strategies and possible areas of reconciliation.
Immediately following the closed session (around 7:30 AM), the Council will have an open meeting regarding the new Muni Construction Project.
Thanks to Joe McCarthy for clarifying the time of these meetings.

“Potential litigation was never raised as an issue”? How can this be with all the years of “due diligence”. We’ve heard from the start about Widstens objections.. Now, we’re faced with the idea they are serious?? Why wasn’t this considered a real possibility….? Lake street is going to take on some hard times as construction begins at the intersection alone. When/if construction begins at the Bay Center it will only lengthen the accessibility problems. Potential settlements with the litigants only raise final costs of our beloved operation. This, at a time when we are eliminating staff and services to the Tax Payers, because of “continuing” budget shortfalls. We still know the Colonial Square location(s) is the highest traveled in the city and will be only marginally disrupted by the impending construction traffic . As a solution shouldn’t this be revisited? Or is there “personal” preference diluting our thought process and judgement again?
Dan, you need to revise this item to clarify the fact that a closed session takes place at 7AM Thursday, BUT that the originally scheduled workshop–OPEN TO THE PUBLIC–will still take place at 7:30 AM Thursday in City Council chambers.. It is important that all Wayzata Citizens who have questions about the Councils 3-2 decision (and the quality of the data upon wich it was based) be there to listen and get updated.
I applaud your timely coverage of Wayzata news.
JMM.
Hi Joe,
